Mt.Baldy Hike

Me and the boy set out for the weekend to Mount Baldy, determined to leave all our worries behind. Lady Pup enjoyed it immensely. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so happy! She was an excellent little trail dog and spent a lot of time chasing squirrels and sniffing around. Meanwhile me and the boy were discussing the negatives and positives of buying a fan so late in the season. Boy: I sweat every night at your place. You need to get a fan.…

Malibu Wine Safari

Malibu Wine Farm

Malibu Wine Safari When the event of my birthday came rolling around, I knew I wanted to do something different and not-standard of the typical birthday going out activities. I opted for something a little more personal and intimate with just a few close family members and the boy, in hopes that it would make me forget the slow, dawning realization that I was getting older. And likely have wrinkles the day after. We set out for Malibu to Paradise Beach Cove Cafe for an…

Catalina Island

Catalina Island

It’s difficult to mention a day at Catalina without saying, “It’s the f&ck*ng Catalina Wine Mixer!” And while there was no Will Ferrell singing Josh Groban tunes or even a wine mixer, the day was still filled with plenty of good things. A good majority followed by one of us in the group saying, “It’s the Catalina Wine Mixer!” just for good effect. For those who don’t know the reference, I strongly recommend you watch Step Brothers right this instant and thank me later. The…

Tea at Langham Hotel Pasadena

Happy to return back from the windy and freezing East Coast, a friend, my mom and I ventured out for a mini outing in Pasadena, and lapped up all the sunshine. We went British and opted for high tea at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. Tucked away in a corner of Pasadena, the Langham Huntington Hotel has an air of refinement and old school Hollywood class. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. We plopped ourselves down at one…

Hiking in Anza Borrego Desert

Where we’re going we don’t need roads! I think words truly fail me to describe this weekend and everything I saw and experienced. I’ve never been one for camping but, when some friends suggested hiking in Anza Borrego Desert, I can’t say I jumped at the idea. The human civilization hasn’t perfected the inside of houses and buildings just to go back outside and experience it, or so I thought. And to be honest, my natural habitat is more of the netflix, pajama setting sort of thing. But I…

Hiking Trail to Hollywood Sign

Follow my blog with Bloglovin Undoubtedly, the Hollywood Sign Hike was probably one of the most difficult hikes I’ve ever done. And I feel like I’ve done my fair share of hiking, which is saying something! Ok- in reality, it probably wasn’t that bad, but my friends and I sure got our workout for the day. My friend and her boyfriend were in town visiting for the weekend, from New York. We set our sight’s on an adventure, her being somewhat of a tourist to Los…

Rose Bowl Flea Market

So a bit of exciting news- I’m moving out! After living at home for the past year and a half or so, I’m finally making the jump back to the real world and moving out. Although, my roommate and I have already planned our living room to be one giant fort, so can’t be so sure about that adult thing 😉 How old is too old to be making forts and drinking wine for dinner? In desperate need of some furnishings for the new place,…

Sequoia’s

The Sequoia National Park was kind of magical. Five hours away from much of civilization, tucked on the mountain top are forests with trees as tall as skyscrapers. Even the drive is beautiful, with winding routes and lumbering trees and the air getting more crisp and fresh the higher you go up. We settled in to our room at the Wuksachi Lodge and then headed back out to explore the Sequoia trees. There was still a thin layer of snow covering the ground and the…

Venice, California

I love Venice. I really do. I love the smell of patchouli that drifts in the air. I love all the beach side stands. And I especially love all the perfect little shops and relaxing restaurants. In desperate need of a mini-getaway, we jumped in the car and headed west towards the ocean! Making sure to stop for food and nourishment at C&O Trattoria, where there’s nothing but decent proper Italian food, covered with real, fresh parmesan. And the real star of this whole meal is…

Descanso Gardens

So I’ll be honest- I was brutally unimpressed with this brunch. Everything about it seemed so off, from the slightly stiff customer service to the fact that they ran out of several breakfast ingredients including egg whites and bacon. Ron Swanson would have had a fit about that, I’m sure! Still leaves me a little puzzled as to how a restaurant serving brunch runs out of two of the main ingredients but hey, who knows what happened. I wanted to love it I really did.…
